Resolved, That the 70th General Convention of the Episcopal Church urge the President of the United States to listen to Brazilian church leaders and others within and outside the Brazilian government in determining policy regarding environmental, economic, social and political justice in Brazil; and be it further

Resolved, That this Church request the President of the United States to call upon the government of Brazil to support structural changes in that country which will improve the impoverished conditions of large numbers of the citizens of Brazil; and be it further

Resolved, that the Presiding Bishop and the Executive Council of the Episcopal Church in the United States be urged to work with churches in Brazil to support structural changes which will fulfill the mission of Jesus Christ in alleviating the poverty of the people; and be it further

Resolved, that the Presiding Bishop and the Executive Council support "Earth Summit--United Nations Conference on Environment and Development" to be held in Brazil, June 1-12, 1992, and express this support to the Secretary-General of the Conference and to the Anglican Consultative Council Representative to the United Nations; and be it further

Resolved, that copies of this resolution be forwarded to the President of the United States, the Secretary of State, the Brazilian Embassy in Washington, the Brazilian Ambassador to the United Nations, the ACC Representative to the United Nations and the Washington Office of the Episcopal Church.
