Title: Commend Responsible Corporate Investment in South Africa and Namibia
Legislative Action Taken: Concurred as Amended
Final Text:

Resolved, That the 72nd General Convention, in obedience to our longstanding commitment to the cause of democracy in South Africa and Namibia (which led the 68th General Convention to divest holdings in companies doing business in those countries), commend those corporations who heeded the call of justice and left South Africa and Namibia during the terrible days of apartheid; and be it further

Resolved, That the Convention commend those corporations that have returned to South Africa and Namibia in the new age of democracy, and that this Convention acknowledge that it is imperative that the Church now advocates for the rebuilding of South Africa's and Namibia's economic infrastructure and further encourages other corporations to consider investing there in support of economic opportunity and in the context of social responsibility.
