Title: Reaffirm the Goals of Jubilee Year 2000

Resolved, That the 72nd General Convention reaffirm its declaration that the year 2000 will be a Jubilee Year, to be known as Jubilee 2000, and its commitment to the Jubilee imperatives of debt forgiveness, environmental stewardship, and human liberation; and be it further

Resolved, That this Convention acknowledge and support the response to the churches by the World Bank and the International Monetary Fund who have created a heavily-indebted poor countries initiative and an enhanced structural adjustment facility by debt reduction and elimination in poor countries; and be it further

Resolved, That this Convention support legislative action in Congress to fund the United States' contribution for these initiatives through the International Development Association; and be it further

Resolved, That this Convention encourage every Congregation and Diocese in the Church to assess, during the thirty months remaining before the year 2000, its ministry in light of God's Jubilee and seek to implement one Jubilee imperative in the local or global community during the next triennium; and be it further

Resolved, That the Executive Council's Committee on Justice, Peace and the Integrity of Creation be instructed to develop plans for the implementation of Jubilee 2000 through initiatives of publicity, preparation of educational materials, public policy networking, and development of shared approaches with Anglican and ecumenical partners.
