Title: Urge Removal of the U.S. Military from Okinawa

Resolved, That the 73rd General Convention urge members of the Episcopal Church and the wider Anglican Communion to support the vast majority of the Okinawan people in their unceasing efforts to achieve the removal of U.S. military bases and U.S. military personnel from Okinawa and to return these lands for peaceful, people-oriented development; and be it further

Resolved, That the General Convention urge the Presiding Bishop of the Episcopal Church, with the assistance of Peace and Justice Ministries, wherever possible in concert with the Anglican Church in Japan (Nippon Sei Ko Kai) and with other religious bodies in the United States, to seek to implement this resolution by communicating with the President of the United States, the U.S. Congress, and the U.S. Secretary of Defense; and be it further

Resolved, That Episcopal Church leadership, in support of the Bishop and Diocese of Okinawa and in consultation with the Nippon Sei Ko Kai and other Anglican partners, pursue consideration of security concerns within the East Asia Pacific Region.
