Resolved, That the Executive Council of the Episcopal Church in this year marking the fortieth anniversary of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights reaffirms its support for equitable, just and humane international policies toward refugees and displaced persons across the globe; and be it further

Resolved, That the Executive Council expresses its profound dismay at:

  1. the inhumane and untenable living conditions and lack of basic human rights endured by Palestinian refugees in Israel, the West Bank, Gaza and Jordan, who for the same forty years have been awaiting a resolution of their homeless plight; and
  2. the most recent brutal treatment accorded Palestinians protesting their substandard quality of life and lack of equality in the society in which they live; and especially
  3. the part played by the United States in acquiescing in the continued oppression of this refugee people through a complicity of silence and continued provision of substantial material resources to the architects of the inhumane policies toward these homeless refugees who ask for the recognition of their basic human rights; and be it further

Resolved, That the Executive Council reaffirms the support of the Episcopal Church for a humane and durable international solution to the profound problems of the Middle East, a solution upholding human rights for all peoples regardless of race, religion or nationality and based on the principles of justice, reconciliation and peace.
