Archives Board Takes on the Triennium and an Audacious Goal

The General Convention’s Board of Archives of the Episcopal Church gathered for their first face-to-face meeting of the 2016-2018 triennium in Austin on March 31–April 2, 2016.  The Archives’ Board is appointed by the Presiding Bishop and the President of the House of Deputies and approved at each General Convention, and is comprised of three bishops, three clergy, six lay members, and the Canonical Archivist. The Board oversees the Church's archives and the Canonical Archivist’s direction to ensure a professional, mission-centered program of care for the Church’s historical records.  The business of the Board for this triennium is to help realize the decade-long plans to construct a new and permanent home for the Archives.  The Board will also consider a refined Acquisitions Policy and a pre-canonical proposal to accommodate name and gender amendments in parish records resulting from identity changes.
