These images represent a selection of the photographs contained in the records of the Domestic and Foreign Missionary Society’s Publicity Department. Received by the Archives as glass plate and film negatives, these images were first published in the Spirit of Missions to promote awareness of the Church’s domestic and foreign missionary programs. Negatives in this collection were taken in the countries of Brazil, China, Cuba, Haiti, Japan, Liberia, Mexico, and the Philippines. Domestic venues covered by the collection included the states and territories of Alaska, Colorado, Hawaii, Illinois, Louisiana, New Jersey, New York, New Hampshire, Oregon, Pennsylvania, South Dakota, and Washington, D.C.
