Promotion Book for Churches Released

Diocesan Press Service. November 15, 1974 [74321]

NEW YORK, N.Y. -- Just released by Morehouse-Barlow Co. of New York is a simple and concise "how to" booklet on Promotion and Publicity for Churches by the Rev. Dr. W. David Crockett. It is designed to help parishes in the development of an effective program of communications both internally and externally. He sees it as being important to the active membership; helpful in revitalizing the passive membership; and vital in reaching the nonmember of the Church.

Dr. Crockett is Canon to the Ordinary in the Diocese of Western Massachusetts. His work includes special emphasis on stewardship and vestry-parish planning. He has previously served as the Executive Secretary of Province I and parishes in Connecticut and Rhode Island. Prior to his ordination, he was Professor of Speech at Emerson College, Northeastern University and the University of Massachusetts. An experienced pastor, administrator and teacher, Canon Crockett authored a similar booklet on Sound Financial Stewardship last year which places a heavy emphasis upon the educational process rather than mere fund raising.

These "how to" booklets for clergy and laity come out of an observed need and incorporate his own experiences as a parish priest and a diocesan administrator.
