Structure Commission to Meet in Memphis

MEMPHIS, Tenn. -- The Standing Commission on the Structure of the Church of the Episcopal Church will hold its third and final meeting of the triennium November 20-22, in the conference room of the 100 North Main Building, Memphis, Tenn.

In March 1975, the Commission published a preliminary report which was distributed to Bishops, Deputies, Triennial Delegates and other Church leaders with the request that comments and suggestions be sent to the Chairman, Paul M. Roca, 100 West Washington, Phoenix, Ariz. 85003.

Major topics covered in the report included the proposals dealing with the election and role of the Presiding Bishop, the function and responsibility of the Executive Council, increased representation on the Executive Council from the Provinces, Biennial General Conventions and some implications thereof, suggestions for strengthening the role of Provinces and regional groupings and proposals for a Joint Standing Committee on Constitution and Canons.

In preparing its final report to the General Convention, the Commission will give full consideration to comments received on the preliminary report which may be sent to the Chairman or the Secretary, Charles M. Crump, 2610 100 North Main Building, Memphis, Tenn. 38103, who is making arrangements for this meeting. A limited number of additional copies of the preliminary report are available from the Chairman.
