Evangelism Booklet for Coalition 14 to be Published
Diocesan Press Service. December 29, 1975 [75461]
NEW YORK, N.Y. -- A booklet to help dioceses in Coalition 14 (C-14) plan programs of evangelism will be published in January, according to the Very Rev. Robert T. Browne, dean of St. Michael's Cathedral, Boise, Ida., and chairman of the editorial committee of the C-14 Task Force on Evangelism.
"Called to Be a Witness, " a booklet developed by a group of 21 bishops, priests, and lay people from C-14, and members of the Executive Council and Episcopal Church Center staff, " is part of the process of providing the needed resources for moving out in evangelism, " Dean Browne said.
"The Episcopal Church is responding with real momentum for the next step in carrying out the call for evangelism as a top priority," he said. "We have been working at renewal fairly well. Now," he continued, "we are providing for our Coalition 14 Dioceses -- and perhaps for the Church as a whole -- a resource for the next step in moving out. "
Dean Browne said it is hoped the booklet will be available by the time of the January 16-18 annual meeting of C-14, which will be held in Phoenix, Ariz. He said the booklet is designed to help C-14 congregations plan their program in evangelism for Eastertide, Pentecost and beyond. The Task Force has suggested that Eastertide be the time for preparation on a parish-wide basis and Pentecost and beyond as the times for moving out to the world in evangelism and service, Dean Browne said.
