Triennial Is Set
Diocesan Press Service. August 12, 1963 [XII-2]
The Triennial Meeting of Episcopal Church Women will be held October 11-20, 1964, in St. Louis, Mo., Miss Frances Young, executive director of the General Division of Women's Work, has announced.
Purpose of the meeting, which will be held simultaneously with the General Convention, will be "to help the women of the church recognize how God is working in His changing world of today; to understand the roles and opportunities of women in church and in society; and to learn to respond to the demands which God is placing upon us," Miss Young said.
For the first time, she said, the women's Triennial Meeting will run for one and a half weeks instead of the usual two weeks. Resolutions approving a shorter meeting period were passed at the 1961 women's Triennial Meeting.
"This was done to provide for those delegates who find it difficult to be away from home for the longer period and for those who want an opportunity to visit sessions of the General Convention during the last three days," Miss Young explained.
The Church's General Convention will be held October 11-23 in St. Louis in Kiel Auditorium.
Presiding at the women's Triennial Meeting will be Mrs. Harold Sorg of the Diocese of California. Assistant Presiding Officer will be Mrs. Robert H. Durham from the Diocese of Michigan.
