Set Conferences for Laymen Overseas
Diocesan Press Service. January 7, 1964 [XVII-11]
A series of special conferences for Christian laymen going overseas has been announced by the Laymen International Branch of the Overseas Mission Society.
Conferences concentrating on the areas shown are The Far East - February 14/15; Latin America - March 13/14; Sub-Saharan Africa - April 3/4; and The Middle East - May 22/23.
The objectives of the series are "to further the sensitivity of Christian laymen to the importance of manifesting their faith as they work or travel overseas, "to assist them to make that manifestation acceptable in the foreign society in which they find themselves, and, "to alert them to how they can learn from the foreign society."
Each conference will be limited to 30 participants. They will spend from Friday dinner through Saturday dinner at the Wilmer Conference Center, Millwood, Va.
Though technically sponsored by Episcopal organizations-, the conferences are being planned and conducted with the assistance of other denominations and inter-church organizations.
Requests for additional information and applications for registration should be sent to Laymen International, OMS, Mount Saint Alban, Washington, D. C. 20016.
