Resolved, That this 70th General Convention rejects the use of fetal tissues aborted for financial profit for use in therapy and medical research, and be it further

Resolved, That the discussion concerning the use for therapeutic or medical research purposes of tissues from healthy fetuses, aborted to save the life of the mother, be continued during the next triennium.

Resolved, the House of Bishops concurring, That the 70th General Convention rejects conception for the purpose of providing fetal tissues for therapeutic or medical research usages; and be it further

Resolved, That this 70th General Convention rejects the use of fetal tissues aborted for profit for use in therapy and medical research, and be it further

Resolved, That the discussion concerning the use of tissues from healthy fetuses, aborted to save the life of the mother, for therapeutic or medical research purposes, be continued during the next triennium.

Proposed Committee Amendment:

In line 5, add "financial" before "profit."

Deputy Guernsey of Virginia moved an amendment to Resolution A096.

Proposed Amendment:

In line 6 insert after "the use" the words "for therapeutic or medical research purposes."

In line 7 delete "for therapeutic or medical research purposes".

The Guernsey amendment was accepted by the Committee.

A vote was taken on A096 as amended.
