Title: Give Thanks for the Ministry of Brian Grieves

Resolved, That the 76th General Convention give high praise and thanksgiving to the ministry and dedication of the Rev. Canon J. Brian Grieves,

- as the Peace and Justice Officer for The Episcopal Church and currently the Senior Director of its Four Mission Centers;

- as priest and former camp director in the Diocese of Hawaii for ten years and where he has remained canonically resident;

- as the Director of the Advocacy Center which includes the Office of Government Relations as well as staff who work on issues of peacemaking, anti-racism, native American/indigenous ministries and social and economic justice. This ministry extended throughout the world, particularly Palestine/Israel, Philippines, Korea, Japan and South Africa, and included ethnic and economic justice in the United States;

- as leader of the Anglican Peace with Justice Network and countless commissions and boards in the United States and abroad;

- as a strong leader of Jubilee Ministries, anti-racism training and advocacy work in Washington, particularly with the MDGs;

- as a man loved and admired for his support of staff and unyielding commitment to the role of the Church and its mission of peace and justice for all; and be it further

Resolved, That we express our deep and abiding affection and appreciation to the Rev. Canon Brian J. Grieves, for his twenty-one years of serving under three Presiding Bishops, having been known and loved by all as a leader, servant and friend and invaluable resource to countless committees and commission members, not to mention deputies and bishops, who have sought his help in preparing reports and resolutions. As a fierce supporter of justice and peace for all people, he has generously given of his time and energy in the most pleasant manner, never showing any signs of uneasiness but with a demeanor of gentleness and a warm smile.
