1978 Lambeth Conference. Women's ordination to the priesthood, the ministry of a bishop,
ecumenism, and the future of the Anglican Communion are among the topics that will
be discussed at the decennial Lambeth Conference, July 22-August 13, at the University
of Kent at Canterbury, England. The context of the conference is prayer and deepening
of the understanding of the role of a bishop today. The last conference, above, met in
Church House in London in the summer of 1968. Almost 500 participants are expected
for the 1978 conference.
