Archbishop Donald Coggan of Canterbury, spiritual leader of the worldwide Anglican Communion -- of which the Episcopal Church is a part -- has announced that he will retire on Jan. 26, 1980. He was appointed 101st Archbishop of Canterbury in 1974 and enthroned in Jan., 1975. He will be 70 years of age in October.
