The Ven. Emilio Hernandez, Archdeacon of the old Havana and Matanzas
provinces, is the Bishop Coadjutor-elect of the Episcopal Church of Cuba and will
eventually succeed the Rt. Rev. Jose A. Gonzalez who is making plans for his retire-
ment. The Episcopal Church in Cuba became an autonomous province of the Anglican
Communion in 1966. Until that date, it was a missionary diocese of the U. S. Episcopal
Church.
