The Rt. Rev. Festo Kivengere, Bishop of the Diocese of Kigezi in Uganda, was the preacher at the final service of the annual Anglican Fellowship of Prayer Conference at New Haven, Conn., May 1-3. Working from Romans 15:1-8 as his text, Bishop Kivengere used the scene of the disciples at the Last Supper as an example of what happens when humans "please themselves." It was when Jesus took on the role of servant and washed their feet, Bishop Kivengere said, that the disciples became unified, so that at the end they were able to go out singing a hymn. Bishop Kivengere also spoke at other sessions of the conference. (Photo by David Pritchard).
