The Rev. Dr. Duc Xuan Nguyen, the first Vietnamese
priest in the Anglican Communion, poses on the day of his ordination

right, two of his presenters. Nguyen is vicar of the Vietnamese congre-
gation which was started at St. Anselm's Refugee Center in the Diocese
of Los Angeles. At the ordination, Davis, former rector of the parish
and president of the Center board, reminded the ordinand that while
"many hands are laid on your head today, many hopes will be laid at your
feet." Nguyen, a former Methodist minister who has been a chaplain at
the Center since 1979, presided later in the summer at the opening
Eucharist of the Asiamerica Ministries Conference, of which Yamazaki is
