New Zealand Consecrates First Diocesan Woman Bishop. On June 29 the Diocese of Dunedin in New Zealand consecrated the Rev. Penelope Jamieson as the first woman to head a diocese in the Anglican Communion. Two bishops from the Episcopal Church in the U.S. participated--Bishop Barbara Harris (on the right), first woman bishop, and Bishop David Johnson, both from the Diocese of Massachusetts.
