Conference on Orders Explores Ties to Catholicism. The Conference on Anglican Orders at the General Seminary in New York City drew Anglican and Roman Catholic scholars for a series of presentations on the historical ties and differences between the two churches. On the steps of the seminary's Chapel of the Good Shepherd, are, from left to right, Professor R. William Franklin, conference chair and professor of church history at the General Seminary; Canon Stephen Platten, the Archbishop of Canterbury's secretary for ecumenical affairs; and the Rev. Tim Galligan of the Pontifical Council for Christian Unity, Vatican City. (ENS photo by Bruce Parker of General Theological Seminary)
