Desmond Tutu First Recipient of Anglican Award.
Archbishop of Canterbury George Carey presents retiring Archbishop Desmond Tutu of the
Province of Southern Africa with the first award for Distinguished Service to the Anglican
Communion at a special service at St. George's Cathedral, Cape Town, in June. The silver
casket presented to Tutu is inscribed with the Canterbury Cross and includes local South
