Joint Declaration Issued by Pope and Archbishop of Canterbury. Archbishop of Canterbury George Carey (left) and Pope John Paul II (right) sign their Common Declaration, a joint statement issued at the conclusion of a three-day visit to Rome by Carey in early December.
