Electing a New Presiding Bishop. Bishops arrive at historic Christ Church in Philadelphia, where the Episcopal Church's first presiding bishop was chosen in 1789, to elect a new presiding bishop. The bishops, transported by bus to the church where they were sequestered, needed only three ballots to elect Frank Griswold of Chicago. (Episcopal News Service photo by Dick Snyder)
