Bishop Jean Zaché Duracin of Haiti will address the Compass Rose Society's 2010 annual general meeting, set for Sept. 7-8 in London.

The meeting will begin on Sept. 7 at St. Andrew's House, home to the Anglican Communion Office, and conclude with a dinner hosted by Archbishop of Canterbury Rowan Williams and his wife, Jane, at Lambeth Palace on Sept. 8.

Bishop Philip Poole, Compass Rose Society president, expressed his hopes for this year's meeting. "I am looking forward to welcoming members from around the Anglican Communion and exploring the opportunities to help Bishop Duracin and his people rebuild their diocese and to help them continue the good work they already do in our Lord's name," said Poole, area bishop of York-Credit Valley in the Diocese of Toronto.

Duracin will accompany society members on a Sept. 9-13 study trip to Paris to the Convocation of Episcopal Churches in Europe. The trip will be hosted by Bishop Pierre Whalon, who heads the convocation.

Whalon is leading the Partners with Haiti project, a multi-step, multi-year and multi-million-dollar effort to assist the people of the Diocese of Haiti in rebuilding Cathédrale Sainte Trinité (Holy Trinity Cathedral) in Port-au-Prince, which was completely destroyed in the recent earthquake.

The society will also consider its future plans at the meeting, including the possibility of a visit to a location in South America in 2011.

The Compass Rose Society supports the ministries of the archbishop of Canterbury by providing annual financial support and enhancing communication within the Anglican Communion through personal contact. Founded in 1997, the society takes its name from the symbol of the Anglican Communion.
