Ramos-Orench to join diocesan services team for Province IX

Bishop Wilfrido Ramos-Orench will join the Episcopal Church's diocesan services team on August 15 as a part-time partnership officer for Province IX, which includes Latin America and the Caribbean. Ramos-Orench is currently serving as provisional bishop of the Diocese of Central Ecuador. As partnership officer, Ramos-Orench will be based in Puerto Rico.

Ramos-Orench is a native of Puerto Rico and a lifelong Episcopalian. He served as bishop suffragan in the Diocese of Connecticut from 2000-06. He is a graduate of the Episcopal Theological Seminary of the Caribbean, and earned his doctorate in ministry from Eastern Baptist Theological Seminary in Wynnewood, Pennsylvania.

The Diocesan Services team is part of the New York-based Partnerships Center, which focuses on building and maintaining relationships within the Episcopal Church and the Anglican Communion. Antoinette Daniels, the center's director, and Province IX President Bishop Francisco Jose Duque-Gomez of the Diocese of Colombia, will continue to share the team's responsibilities in Province IX until Ramos-Orench's work begins.
