The Anglican Alliance has launched a Facebook page for people to share views and expertise on development, relief and advocacy efforts in the Anglican Communion, according to a release from the Anglican Communion News Service.

The Anglican Alliance works with relief and development agencies connected with provinces of the Anglican Communion. "Its mission is to build on the work already being undertaken across the communion, build capacity, co-ordinate and provide a clear voice for the communion in the international development," according to the Anglican Communion website. The Alliance was proposed at the 2008 Lambeth Conference, and Sally Keeble was appointed its director in January 2011.

"We want to build a strong community around the Alliance, and hope that it will receive posts from the many very dedicated supporters of the Alliance who share the commitment to build a world free of poverty and injustice," Keeble said in the release.

"Already it provides information and pictures of the work of the Anglicans, showing how by working together through the Alliance we can share the good news of what we are doing - part of the Anglican mission to the world."

Keeble invites Anglicans and Episcopalians to "like" the Alliance Facebook page to be kept informed about the organization's activities, and to "enjoy using the page to swap news and ideas. You will see on the page that you can send in pictures of your work as well as information and news. Your brothers and sisters around the world will want to hear about what you are doing. We very much look forward to seeing these exchanges take place."

The Alliance plans to hold a series of consultative conferences during 2011 to identify development priorities and agree on strategies for advocacy and emergency relief, according to its web page.
