Kris Lee named canon for communication for Diocese of Long Island

Episcopal News Service. June 20, 2007 [062007-07]

Bishop Orris G. Walker, Jr. of the Episcopal Diocese of Long Island named the Rev. Kris Lee canon for communication effective June 1.

Lee, priest associate at Trinity St. Paul's Church in New Rochelle, New York, has been a communications consultant for the diocese for many years, conducting parish public relation workshops at the Mercer School and managing the creation of the diocese's official website, which incorporated web pages for the Cathedral of the Incarnation. This was the first unified site across the Episcopal Church to highlight the partnership of a diocese and its cathedral.

In his new position, Lee coordinates the development of a diocesan communication strategy that takes advantage of industry advances in office network systems and in print and online publishing methods.

Lee brings a plethora of media experience to the position having served since 1987 as consultant to the Trinity Church Wall Street grants program and manager of its telecommunication grant projects at the Anglican Communion Office in London. He has also held senior media positions at the Metropolitan Detroit Council of Churches, national offices of the Lutheran Church, the American Bible Society headquarters and the Episcopal Church Center from which he retired as director of media services in 2003.
