JoAnne Chapman resigns as United Thank Offering coordinator

Episcopal News Service. July 18, 2007 [071807-01]

JoAnne Chapman, the Episcopal Church's United Thank Offering (UTO) Coordinator, will resign her position effective September 2007.

Chapman, who has held the position for the past six years, plans to relocate to Kansas to be closer to family members.

"I have been very grateful for the opportunity to work at the Episcopal Church Center," she said. "Being the coordinator of the United Thank Offering and working in the Office of Anglican and Global Relations has given me the opportunity to travel throughout the Anglican Communion, to get to know our DFMS missionaries, and to meet people who come from all over the world to visit the Church Center."

Chapman's background is in teaching and family counseling. Prior to joining the Church Center, she was active in the Diocese of Spokane where she was a member of All Saints, Richland. She was active on the diocesan level and a mentor for Education for Ministry. She also worked as the director of the Southeast Area Office of Lutheran Social Services of Washington and Idaho, which is now Lutheran Community Services of the Northwest.

"This has been very gratifying work because UTO has such a long history of supporting the mission work of the church, both in the USA and overseas," Chapman said. "I'm glad to have been part of that mission."

The UTO coordinator job description has been posted here, with a closing date of August 15.
