With the Labor Day holiday approaching, the Episcopal News Service is mindful of the several dioceses, congregations, and individual Episcopalians who have made strides for achieving fair pay for fair labor -- especially as reflected in "Living Wage" initiatives across the nation. ENS would appreciate at this time notification of forward strides in the intersections of the Living Wage and human experience in the dioceses of the Episcopal Church. All replies to news@episcopalchurch.org will be greatly appreciated.
ENS at this time also salutes Living Wage advocates -- especially the Rev. Canon Richard Gillett, and peace-with-justice activist Marty E. Coleman, both of All Saints Church, Pasadena, California -- for their early-and-active pioneering work on achieving fair remuneration, especially in Southern California, for the working poor in the United States.
In addition, all of us at ENS thank you, our readers, at this time for your lively reply to previous summer-season Calls for Comment on the topics of affordable housing, HIV/AIDS ministry, immigration policy, and the ministries of ordained women in the church,. Each and every reply from our readers has been carefully filed for follow-up in a series of reports scheduled for the fall season. Once again, sincere thanks for all replies -- which continue to enrich the labor of ENS in God's vineyard.
