With an eye on post-hurricane rebuilding efforts and the upcoming House of Bishops meeting in New Orleans, Episcopal Life Focus debuted on September 13.

Episcopal Life Focus, the new monthly half-hour video "multicast" featuring church mission, ministries and news, is available on Episcopal Life Online.

Mike Collins is the producer of Episcopal Life Focus. The Rev. Jan Nunley, executive editor for Episcopal Life Media, anchors the show.

The House of Bishops will meet in New Orleans September 20-25.

In the September Episcopal Life Focus:

Courtney Cowart, strategic director, Office of Disaster Response for the Diocese of Louisiana, presents a tour of the Katrina-affected areas and how New Orleans continues to struggle.

An interview with anthropologist, ethnographer and current seminarian Miranda Hassett explores her observations about current trends in the Anglican Communion.

Reporting for Episcopal Life Focus, Daphne Mack discusses the ongoing relief and recovery work of Episcopal Relief and Development in New Orleans and Mississippi with Rich Olsen, director of Domestic Disaster Response and Preparedness for Episcopal Relief and Development.

Katie Mears is featured in the program's "One Episcopalian" segment which focuses on lay people involved in important ministries. Mears came to New Orleans shortly after Katrina to work as a volunteer. Two years later she continues that work for the Diocese of Louisiana.

Presiding Bishop Katharine Jefferts Schori reflects on the continued struggles of New Orleans and Mississippi and how Christians are called to help in the ongoing efforts.

The September Episcopal Life Focus is sponsored by Episcopal Books and Resources (EBaR).

Additionally, an online captioned version of the Episcopal Life Focus is available. For the September show, the online captioning is sponsored by the Episcopal Church Women of the Diocese of Los Angeles.

Ongoing programs will continue to be topical, informative and newsworthy, while striking the balance with the human side of the issues, Collins said.

The program will remain available online for on-demand viewing, and for placement on local community access cable stations that make air time available free of charge, said Canon Robert Williams, director of Episcopal Life Media.

The program is part of the new integrated "Episcopal Life Media" initiative that complements the churchwide monthly newspaper with its "Episcopal Life Online" website, weekday email releases, regular streaming video reports, and weekly inserts for Sunday parish bulletins. Top stories are featured from the Episcopal News Service.

Inquiries about programming, and requests regarding community access cable placement, should be directed to Collins via email, mcollins@episcopalchurch.org, or by phoning 800-334-7626, ext. 6018.
