Cleveland L. Sellers Jr. elected chairman of Association of Episcopal Colleges

Cleveland L. Sellers Jr., president of Voorhees College, recently became the chairman of the Association of Episcopal Colleges (AEC), the U.S. chapter of the Colleges and Universities of the Anglican Communion (CUAC).
The AEC board of directors elected Sellers Nov. 9 during a meeting held in New York, according to Donald Thompson, general secretary of CUAC-AEC.
As chairman of the board of directors, which is made up of the presidents of all Episcopal colleges, Sellers will lead the colleges in developing new strategic initiatives for enabling all of them to fulfill their public missions during difficult financial times, according to a press release from Voorhees College.
"It is important for AEC to be committed to the vision of the churches," said Sellers in the release. "We will continually strive to alleviate poverty and injustice and work toward racial reconciliation and restorative justice."
There are nine Episcopal colleges in the United States: Bard College, Clarkson College, Hobart and William Smith Colleges, Kenyon College, St. Augustine College, Saint Augustine’s College, Saint Paul's College, the University of the South and Voorhees College.
CUAC is a worldwide association of more than 120 institutions of higher education that were founded by and retain ties to churches of the Anglican Communion.
