The Rev. Charles Moya Appointed Liaison Secretary for South America

An American working since September 1960 in Belem, Brazil has been appointed Liaison Secretary for the Anglican Dioceses in South America. The Rev. Charles A Moya, who will take up his new duties March 1, will have an office in Sao Paulo, Brazil.

The region referred to consists of Argentina, Bolivia, Brazil, Chile, Peru, Colombia, Ecuador, Paraguay, Uruguay and Venezuela. He was appointed by the Bishops of the area with the concurrence of the recent Consultation on Latin America.

After serving as a curate at Christ Church, Grosse Pointe, Michigan, Mr. Moya began work in Belem at the mouth of the Amazon near the Equator. A clinic and school program has been set up in Belem.

Duties for liaison secretary include visiting each area, becoming familiar with the work and future plans; sharing ideas, techniques and experiences; representing the region before the Executive Officer; working with regional directories; developing a communications program to introduce the area to the whole Communion; regional meetings and ecumenical relations.

Mr. Moya is a graduate of the University of New Mexico and Virginia Seminary. Earlier he had worked in Chile and Panama. He is married and has four children.
