Arthur Ben Chitty, for 20 years editor of The Sewanee News and head of promotion at the University of the South, Sewanee, Tenn. was named president of the Association of Episcopal Colleges at the its March meeting at St. Augustine's College, Raleigh, N. C. Mr. Chitty has been serving the group on a temporary basis at the Episcopal Church Center in New York City since last September,

"Human Genetics and Bio-Chemistry" was the topic of a four-day conference held at the Washington National Cathedral in March in order to bring together theological and scientific viewpoints in facing man's revolutionary new knowledge and abilities in genetics, bio-chemistry, organ transplantation and related fields. Some 40 leading Roman Catholic, Methodist, Presbyterian and Episcopal clergy and laity from throughout the country attended.

The 27th annual conference on religious architecture will be held in San Francisco, April 26-28. It will be the broadest-based in conference history, enrolling for the first time clergy and lay leaders representing the Roman Catholic Church, the Jewish faith and the Unitarian Universalist Association, as well as Anglicans, Orthodox, and Protestants.

The Church of the Province of Central Africa passed unanimously at its Provincial Synod held in Malawi a resolution on intercommunion. The resolution provided that, while intercommunion was not to be the rule, Bishops had the discretion to allow Anglicans to receive Communion from non-Anglican clergy when an agreement to seek organic union has been entered into or at gatherings specifically for the promotion of church union or for a special project of close co-operation. The Province of Central Africa is one of the youngest in the Anglican Communion and also has a uniformly Anglo- Catholic tradition.

American Missionaries in Burma are preparing to leave the country by May 31 in compliance with a recent edict of the country's military government. There is now in Burma a Christian Church of approximately 600,000 members and it has developed a strong indigenous leadership. (Ecumenical Press Service)

The Choir of Men and Boys of Washington National Cathedral will sing the services at England's Westminster Abbey from April 15 through May 1 as part of the Abbey's 900th anniversary observance. In addition, the choir will sing at Chichester Cathedral on April 13 and at Coventry Cathedral on April 20.

A Consultation on Equal Opportunity in Employment will be held in St. Louis April 15-17. The National Council of Churches' Division of Christian Life and Mission has issued a nationwide call to leaders in business, labor, education, church life and local communities to attend the in-depth discussions of equal employment opportunity.

The Archbishop of Canterbury, one of the presidents of the World Council of Churches, visited the WCC's headquarters in Geneva March 25. He took the occasion to present to the WCC's retiring General Secretary, Dr. W. A. Visser't Hooft the Lambeth Cross, the highest honor which can be given by the Anglican Church.
