NEW YORK, N.Y. -- The Seabury Press, publishing house of the Episcopal Church, will publish on February 3, CANTERBURY PILGRIM by Michael Ramsey.

The one-hundredth Archbishop of Canterbury writes about what he has learned as leader of the Anglican Communion during the turbulent nineteen sixties. The era of the "death of God," of the decline of church allegiance, ecumenical renewal, growing involvement with social problems, and increasing hunger for a return to God takes on a new perspective as, with warmth and candor, the author shares with his readers what it has meant to be the leader of a great church during these exciting and difficult times.

Selections here reflect his wide travels, actual as well as intellectual. They show his wisdom, shaped by experience, theological controversy, spiritual renewal, church government and ecumenism. The Pilgrimage ends, appropriately enough, in Canterbury Cathedral at a commemoration of Thomas Beckett.

CANTERBURY PILGRIM is available in a hardback edition from the Seabury Bookstore or other related bookstores.
