Forward Movement Publications, an official publishing house of the Episcopal Church, has announced that Partners in Mission 1978 is now available. Archbishop Donald Coggan of Canterbury says of the 129-page paperback book in the foreward that it "is a workbook to help us to do our daily bit of work by calling to mind the provinces and dioceses of our Anglican Communion, reaching out beyond them to the wider church, and lifting them all up before God for his blessing." The prayer suggestions for every day in the year may be used at the altar in public worship or in the private devotions of an individual or family. Presiding Bishop John M. Allin urges Episcopalians to "help forge another link in the worldwide Anglican 'chain of prayer"' by using this book daily. Mrs. Mary E. Scott solicited contributions from tenants in all 75 apartments in her building on behalf of the victims of the Johnstown flood and channeled the $77 collected through the relief fund set up by the Episcopal Diocese of Bethlehem. Despite a heart condition, the senior citizen black woman covered her entire building on behalf of the fund -- and all tenants contributed. Mrs. Scott -- who is a Baptist -- was commended by Bishop Lloyd E. Gressle of the Diocese of Bethlehem and the Rev. David Sweet, a leader in the fund drive, for her work on behalf of the flood victims.
