NEW YORK -- Ninety-one projects throughout the world will benefit from United Thank Offering grants totalling $1,767,799. 54 which were awarded in a late summer meeting of the UTO committee.

The grants are the 1978 offering for work in 1979. The actual offering of $1,694,152.24 represents an increase of $132,065.23 over the previous year. The rest of the total is produced from interest and reallocated funds.

The projects which won support range from shelters for abused women in the United States through church construction projects all over the world to the purchase of a truck to allow a bishop to travel through Namibia.

The United Thank Offering is approaching its 90th year -- the anniversary will be celebrated at the General Convention in Denver -- and still includes as a staple of its work support for women in mission and scholarships for women. The UTO has become one of the chief sources of development funds available to the worldwide Anglican Communion.
