Atlanta -- The Church of England's Archbishop of York, the Most Rev. Stuart Blanch, is speaker on the 1981 Episcopal Series of the Protestant Hour. This 36th annual series will be heard on nationwide radio and worldwide on the American Forces Radio Network for 12 weeks beginning Feb. 1.

The Anglican Archbishop introduces his theme -- "The Ten Commandments" -- with this question- "What can a set of rules, dating from the beginnings of an unimportant nomadic tribe called the Hebrews, say to us, members of a highly sophisticated civilization, burdened with problems which the Hebrews never even dreamt of?" His answer to this question covers many areas of our contemporary life styles.

Archbishop Blanch's meditations given during the final week of the 1978 Lambeth Conference were possibly the most talked about happening to come out of Lambeth. His lectures were said to be "like a breath of fresh air, witty and sharply to the point." He was greeted at the close with a standing ovation by bishops of the Anglican Communion. His addresses on "The Ten Commandments" reflect his Old Testament scholarship and deep Christian commitment.

Prior to his enthronement as Archbishop of York in 1975, Archbishop Blanch was bishop of Liverpool. He is president of the British and Foreign Bible Society and ProChancellor of Hull University. His main leisure interests are music, walking and meteorology. He and Mrs. Blanch have one son and four daughters.

The Episcopal Series is produced and distributed by the Episcopal Radio-TV Foundation, Atlanta. It is funded by voluntary contributions to the Foundation.
