LONDON (DPS, Oct. 29) -- The Anglican Consultative Council (ACC) has published a document -- The Emmaus Report -- which summarizes all the current Anglican dialogues and relationships with other Churches.

The Emmaus Report come out of the Anglican Ecumenical Consultation which took place at the Emmaus Retreat Center, West Wickham, England, in January/February 1987. The Consultation included the chairman and the vice chairman of the Ecumenical Relations Section of the Lambeth Conference 1988 and a number of bishops and ecumenical officers from the Anglican Communion. The report was initially prepared for the Seventh Meeting of the Anglican Consultative Council, which met in Singapore earlier this year, and raises specific questions for the Council. The report was also prepared for the Ecumenical Relations Section of the Lambeth Conference 1988.

A major task for the Lambeth Conference 198S will be the review of the Anglican dialogues since 1978. The Emmaus Report provides a summary of pronouncements on the unity of the Church from previous Lambeth Conferences and will form the major part of the final document on Ecumenical Relations for the Lambeth Conference 1988. It is therefore essential background reading for those interested in or involved with the Lambeth Conference next year. The report will also appeal to a wider readership because it provides a concise up-to-date summary of Anglican relationships with other Churches.

The Emmaus Report contains chapters on Christian unity, the churches in full communion, The Anglican-Roman Catholic International Commission, changes in Anglican-Lutheran relations, Anglican-Orthodox relations, Anglican-Oriental Orthodox relations, Anglican-Reformed Relations, the responses of the Anglican Communion to the Baptism, Eucharist and Ministry text of the World Council of Churches and a chapter on the growth of new churches.

The Emmaus Report is published for the Anglican Consultative Council. The United Kingdom edition is published by Church House Publishing. The report is also published through the Inter-Anglican Publishing Network and is available in the U.S. from Forward Movement Publications, 412 Sycamore Ave, Cincinnati, OH 45202
