NEW YORK (DPS, July 14) -- Delegates to the Triennial Meeting of Women in Detroit approved a recommended grant list of 133 different projects around the world totaling $2,590,686.40.

A grant of $20,000 to St. Peter's Inn Street Outreach in Detroit, the Triennial host city, is aimed at developing alternatives for teenage prostitutes, and $63,000 to the Diocese of Mt. Central Kenya, the largest single grant, gives the Church opportunity to help young girls who come to the city for vocational training or employment and are without a Christian home or context.

Grant totals for domestic and foreign projects were evenly divided, according to Mark Jones, United Thank Offering committee member, who noted that domestic projects outnumbered overseas projects two-to-one.
