Forward Movement Announces New Advisory Board

Cincinnati (DPS, Apr. 27) -- The executive committee of Forward Movement Publications has announced the appointment of a new advisory board to assist in the development of editorial policy and in the evaluation of manuscripts and to improve communication between the Cincinnati-based leadership of the popular publishing company and its readers around throughout the Episcopal Church.

Business operations of Forward Movement Publications are supervised by an executive committee appointed by the Presiding Bishop. This committee includes Bishop John Krumm, chair; Bishop Edward Jones, diocesan of Indiana, vice-chair; the Rev. Charles Long, editor of Forward Movement Publications; and four laypersons from the Cincinnati area -- N. Beverly Tucker, Paul Meyers, James Lied, and Naomi Stoehr.

Advisory board members are Bishop Herbert A. Donovan, Jr., diocesan of Arkansas; Bishop Herbert Thompson, Jr., diocesan of Southern Ohio; Sonia Francis, Executive for Communication at the Episcopal Church Center; Dr. James W. Kennedy, former editor of Forward Movement; Richard L. Crawford, publisher of The Episcopalian; Roy Larsen, editor of The Chicago Reporter; the Rev. Marilyle Sweet Page, rector of St. Peter's Church, Henrietta, New York, and a member of the Executive Council of the Episcopal Church; the Rev. Louis C. Schueddig of the Episcopal Radio-TV Foundation; Cynthia Shattuck, editorial director of Cowley Press; Christopher Walters-Bugbee, director of communications for Trinity Parish, New York; Ruth Nicastro, editor of The Episcopal Times, Los Angeles, and national chairman of the Episcopal Communicators; and the Rev. Harrison T. Simons, director of Education/Liturgy Resources and rector of St. Stephen's Church, Oxford, North Carolina.

A combined meeting of the executive committee and the advisory board -- and guests -- will be held in Cincinnati on May 16 and 17.

The Forward Movement was established as a not-for-profit agency of the General Convention of the Episcopal Church in 1934. It publishes educational, devotional, and pastoral resources, including Forward Day by Day and The Anglican Cycle of Prayer, for personal and parish use in the United States, Canada, and other parts of the Anglican Communion.
