Anglican Council of North America to Meet in Jamaica

TORONTO, Canada -- The Anglican Council of North America, composed of representatives of Anglican and Episcopal Churches in Canada, the West Indies and the United States, will meet next month in Montego Bay, Jamaica.

The sessions, to be held from September 22 to 24, 1970, will include the primates and metropolitans of each of the three Churches who are members of the Council as well as a number of observers from other churches.

Among those attending will be:

The Most Rev. William Lockridge Wright, Archbishop of Ontario and Acting Primate of the Anglican Church of Canada; the Most Rev. Alan Knight, Archbishop of the West Indies, and the Rt. Rev. John E. Hines, Presiding Bishop of the Episcopal Church in the U. S.

Archbishop Wright will preside.

The Rt. Rev. J.W.A. Howe, of London, England, Executive Officer of the Anglican Communion, will give the keynote address at the opening session of the council on the subject of "The Church's Mission to the World."

On the agenda of the council meeting will be the church's work in Latin America, current trends in theological education in the North America region, and a report on ecumenical consultations among the member churches.
