Different Prayer Books to be Used

Diocesan Press Service. January 10, 1963 [VI-10]

Interesting highlight of public worship during this summer's Anglican Congress in Toronto will be the use of a different Prayer Book every day.

The Holy Communion will be celebrated each day at 7:30 a.m. ii St. James' Cathedral there, from the Congress opening August 13 till its closing August 23. And each day the service will be celebrated according to the liturgy of a different province or national Church of the Anglican Communion. The celebrant at each day's service will be the senior bishop present from the province or Church whose Prayer Book is used.

A related feature of the Congress will be a first-time-ever exhibit of every Prayer, Book used anywhere in the Anglican Communion today. The display will be part of the main exhibit on the conference floor of the Royal York Hotel, Toronto, the Congress headquarters hotel.

In addition to showing all the Prayer Book usages in their various translations, the book display will include an exhibit of recent publications from throughout the Anglican Communion. The Prayer Book and publications display is a project of a Women's Auxiliary group at a Toronto church.
