Anglican Mosaic

Diocesan Press Service. January 10, 1963 [VI-2]

Seventeen Anglicans from every part of the Anglican world - Archbishops, bishops, other clergy, and a layman - have cooperated in the preparation of Anglican Mosaic, a collection of papers written to help delegates to next August's Anglican Congress go to Toronto with some understanding and insight into the varied situations of the branches of the Anglican Communion.

And of course it has much greater relevance than this. As an early reader said, "Anglican Mosaic is a book which should find a place on the shelf of every parish library and on the required reading list of every parish leader."

Anglican Mosaic consists of fifteen chapters, describing the background, present situation, and challenges to the church from the Arctic to the Equator and from Canterbury to Australia. Probably no other book combines such a comprehensive and vivid picture of the Anglican Communion today.

The chapters which range from the statistical to the poetical, from delight in the past to concern for the future, and from contemplation of challenge to criticism and failure are supplemented with useful summaries of information, brief reading lists, and maps. There are three sections of photographs which add to the vividness of the text. The endpapers are full color maps of the worldwide Anglican Communion.

Edited by William E. Leidt, Anglican Mosaic has a foreword by the Metropolitan of India, and an Introduction by the Bishop of Huron (Canada), chairman of the Congress Editorial Committee. Anglican Mosaic is published in the United States by the Seabury Press and is available from church bookstores or direct from the publisher at $2.25.
