Christian Unity Pilgrimages Set

Diocesan Press Service. April 7, 1965 [XXXI-5]

Two Christian Unity Pilgrimages are planned for the summer of 1965: one to England and France and one to Italy.

Sponsored by the Association for Christian Unity, these pilgrimages are for Christians of all communions and are led by a Roman Catholic priest and a leader of another communion. Each group will also have an Anglican Chaplain.

The pilgrims will "explore (their) common Christian tradition through visits to churches and other historic centers and meet and pray with those actively involved in Christian renewal today."

"The purpose is for a small group to experience in depth a living ecumenism through personal contact with persons and groups leading in the ecumenical movement, through the living, praying and traveling together during the three weeks, and through contact with the source of our common Christianity," states the Association.

The England-France pilgrimage will include London, Canterbury, Cambridge, the Benedictine Abbey of Bec-Hellouin in France, Paris, Lyon, the Protestant Community of Taize, and Chartres. The Italian pilgrimage will include Milan, Agape, Florence, Assist, and Rome. In Rome contact will be made with the Roman Catholic Secretariat for Christian Unity and an audience with the Pope will be arranged.

The cost of the England-France Pilgrimage will be $775 and of the Italian Pilgrimage $875.

Further information on the Pilgrimages can be obtained from Miss Sylvia Appleton, Apt. 31, 572 Huntington Avenue, Boston, Mass.
