Resolved, That the 68th General Convention requests the Presiding Bishop, in concert with the Presiding Bishop-elect, to issue a special appeal to the Church, to be given through the Presiding Bishop's Fund for World Relief, for funds for Bishop Desmond Tutu's work in the Church in South Africa; and be it further

Resolved, That an offering for Bishop Tutu's work on behalf of the suffering people of South Africa be received at the Friday afternoon, September 13, legislative session of this Convention.

Whereas, We have been reminded in the first hymn of praise sung in this 68th General Convention to "give of thy wealth to send them (heralds) on their way"; and

Whereas, Bishop Desmond Tutu has spoken publicly and prophetically, of the desperate needs of his people in this time of crisis in his country; therefore be it

Resolved, the House of Bishops concurring, That the 68th General Convention requests the Presiding Bishop, through the Fund for World Relief, to accept designated funds for Bishop Desmond Tutu's use and to forward them to him immediately upon receipt; and be it further

Resolved, That a collection for Bishop Tutu to use on behalf of the suffering people of South Africa be received at the Friday afternoon, September 13, legislative session of this Convention; and be it further

Resolved, That the financial straits of the Anglican ministries and all the people of South Africa be proclaimed throughout the Church, so that moneys will regularly and continuously be given by all faithful people to the Fund for World Relief for Bishop Tutu's discretionary use.
