Resolved, That the 69th General Convention approve the request from the Diocese of Haiti for the necessary authorization to begin the trial period, beginning January 1, 1989, for three years, leading toward autonomy and the beginning of the development of a formal agreement between PECUSA and the Diocese of Haiti; and be it further

Resolved, That the 69th General Convention support the decision of the Diocese of Haiti to participate in the formation of a Caribbean regional organization composed of the Dioceses of Haiti, Cuba, Puerto Rico and the Dominican Republic, to be a new province within the Anglican Communion.

Resolved, the House of Deputies concurring, That the 69th General Convention approve the request from the Diocese of Haiti for the necessary authorization to begin the trial period leading toward autonomy and the beginning of the development of a formal agreement between PECUSA and the Diocese of Haiti; and be it further

Resolved, That the 69th General Convention give its support for the formation of an Episcopal Caribbean regional organization as a step leading to the formation of a new province within the Anglican Communion.

Proposed Committee Amendment:

In the first Resolved clause, add the words "beginning January 1, 1989," following the words "trial period" in the third line.

Strike the second Resolved clause and substitute the following:

Resolved, That the 69th General Convention support the decision of the Diocese of Haiti to participate in the formation of a Caribbean regional organization composed of the Dioceses of Haiti, Cuba, Puerto Rico, and the Dominican Republic, to be a new province within the Anglican Communion.
