Resolved, the House of Bishops concurring, That this 71st General Convention support the concept of a meeting of worldwide religious leaders at the 50th anniversary of the United Nations in San Francisco in 1995, through the office of the Bishop of California, and request this gathering to develop and adopt a compassionate and non-judgmental "Universal Religious Statement on AIDS/HIV," and we call for religious communities to undertake initiatives in response to the statement.

The Committee cited typographical changes in A004:

In line 5: Lowercase "u" in "universal"

In line 5: Lowercase "r" in "religious"

In line 5: Lowercase "s" in "statement"

and,

Delete quotation marks before "universal" and after "HIV."

Deputy Guernsey of Virginia moved an amendment to A004.

Proposed Amendment:

Delete lines 4 and 5 following "AIDS/HIV."

A vote was taken on the Guernsey amendment to A004.
