Resolved, That this 71st General Convention of the Episcopal Church join in the international call for:

An international ban on the use, production, stockpiling, and sale, transfer, or export of antipersonnel mines; the establishment of an international fund, administered by the United Nations, to promote and finance land mine awareness, clearance, and eradication programs worldwide; and countries responsible for the production and dissemination of antipersonnel mines to contribute to the international fund; and be it further

Resolved, That the General Convention call on the President of the United States to join the call for such a ban; and be it further

Resolved, That the Executive Officer of the Convention send copies of this Resolution to the President of the United States, the Secretary of State, the United States Ambassador to the United Nations, the Secretary-General of the United Nations, and the Land Mines Campaign of the Vietnam Veterans of America Foundation.

Resolved, the House of Bishops concurring, That this 71st General Convention of the Episcopal Church join in the international call for:

An international ban on the use, production, stockpiling, and sale, transfer, or export of antipersonnel mines; The establishment of an international fund, administered by the United Nations, to promote and finance land mine awareness, clearance, and eradication programs worldwide; and Countries responsible for the production and dissemination of antipersonnel mines to contribute to the international fund; and be it further

Resolved, That this Convention call upon the United States to ratify the l980 United Nations Protocol on Prohibitions or Restrictions on the Use of Mines, Booby Traps and Other Devices; and be it further

Resolved, That the General Convention call on the President of the United States to join the call for such a ban and to state that he will do all in his power to ensure that the United States will comply with said ban; and be it further

Resolved, That the Executive Officer of the Convention send copies of this Resolution to the President of the United States, the Secretary of State, the United States Ambassador to the United Nations, the Secretary-General of the United Nations, the Land Mines Campaign of the Vietnam Veterans of America Foundation, and the U.S. Senators from Massachusetts; and be it further

Resolved, That the General Convention strongly urge all dioceses, parishes, missions and their members to study and actively join this call for a ban on land mines.
