Resolved, That the 71st General Convention of the Episcopal Church join others, including political leaders Congressmen Norman Mineta and Robert Matsui, in the effort to secure reparation from the government of Japan for surviving victims and their families of some 200,000 Korean and other women exploited as sex slaves for the Japanese troops during World War II; and be it further

Resolved, That the United Nations be urged to create a special tribunal to conduct a thorough investigation of the gross violation of human rights of Korean and other women and demand of Japan's government the following:

1. a full disclosure of the historical facts and documents on the military sex slavery;

2. admission and apology for its responsibility in these acts as war crimes along with other atrocities committed by the government of Japan.

3. revise its school history books to include the facts of the sex slavery and other war-time crimes; and be it further

Resolved, That the Episcopal Church seek the support of the Anglican Church, Nippon Sei Ko Kai, and the National Christian Council of Japan in undertaking these tasks.

The Committee on National and International Problems presented its Report #2 on House of Deputies Message #32 on Resolution D008a (Reparation for World War II Sexual Slavery Victims in Japan) and recommended non-concurrence.

The Bishop of New Hampshire moved to amend the resolution by deleting the second resolved clause.
